Treating Panic Disorder

A new treatment that teaches people with panic disorder how to normalize their breathing works better to reduce panic symptoms and hyperventilation than traditional cognitive therapy, according to a new study. The biological-behavioral treatment program is called Capnometry-Assisted Respiratory Training, or CART, said psychologist and panic disorder expert Alicia Meuret at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
